Q&A with George Gross and Harry Watt
1. What is the most notable moment in your design career?
GG: Being on stage of the Opera House with Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, Oscar de Larenta, the Missonis,and 4 other international designers for the Bicentennial Wool Show….and best of all our clothes stood up to theirs with strength!
HW: When I received a phone call at 2 am in the morning to advise me that Princess Diana had purchased 6 pieces of my collection from Harrod’s! It was “goose bumps” time!
2.What were the influences that inspired your current Summer collection?
GG: Our clients. I like them to look modern, sleek & luxurious.
HW: I just LOVE Summer! It gives me the opportunity to work with all the amazing bright and bold colours!
3.What three things can you not live without?
GG: Harry, my sister Kathy (GGHW Director) and beautiful surroundings.
HW: George, my dog Bobby and happiness.
4.What are your guilty pleasures?
GG: None. If something is pleasurable, why feel guilty?!
HW: If you feel guilty, you probably shouldn’t be doing it or enjoying it, so lose the guilt!
5.If you could dress anyone dead or alive whom would it be and why?
GG: Dead: Nefertiti, —I love opulence & glamour and she must be the all time it girl of glamour
Alive: Cate Blanchett---- The most sensuously elegant beautiful actress working today
HW: Princess Diana, as I still have her measurements and she looked so fabulous in my clothes!
